Copenhagen Distortion 2011

DISTORTION FESTIVAL COPENHAGEN from Anders Hemmingsen on Vimeo.

Copenhagen Distortion - Celebrating Street Life and Club Culture - is Old-Europe's craziest annual party cavalcade, orchestrating 101+ parties in 101+ different locations with 101+ different hosts. The Distortion fest includes massive Block Party celebrations, taking place in the streets, for free, while the sun sets - and the hardcore Club Clash events, late at night, in spectacular Copenhagen locations

ACTION

Every day 16-22h, Distortion gathers 20.000-40.000 people partying, breakdancing, cooking, getting naked, singing and crawling in the streets: it's called BLOCK PARTY. It's FREE - and it takes place 5 days in a row in 5 different Copenhagen neighbourhoods. A little like London's Notting Hill Carnival and Barcelona's Sonar By Day - only without so many rastas or "A&R" dudes. (rastas smell funny and music professionals are boooriiiing).

By night 22-05h, we call it CLUB CLASH. The Festival all-access TurPas is cheap, the drinks are incredibly cheap - and the Distortion dancing man on the wall is a guarantee for 250% party madness, with Europa's club maestros and an army of hungered party animals. And a few nice kids just hanging around.

                         Hej Hej, VI SES!!

I´m Lost, Maybe We Will Meet In Cph!

WALTER FILMS PRESENTS »WASTER« BY PHILIPPE PROUFF FEAT. DENIS LAVANT IN DAMIR DOMA

© by Walter Films 2011 / Direction Philippe Prouff / Production Walter Films / Actor Denis Lavant / Fashion Damir Doma / Music John & Jehn / Executive Production Franck Laskar / Camera Thomas Robin / Sound Julien Sicart / Editing Lise Fernandez

ABOUT THE MOVIE
A Waster is a practice weapon made out of wood, usually a sword. It is the name of a king without a kingdom, stranded on a hostile island with a wooden sword and a crown, and confronted with the absurdity of his own existence. A man who spends all his energy continuously building and destroying the same stone walls on a land in which he reigns as his sole master.

It obviously reminds us of the myth of Sisyphus, compelled by the Gods to roll a boulder up a hill, only to see it roll back down, and to repeat it throughout eternity. But presently, this man is not desperate, and almost seems to be happy. Waster is the revolt of the absurd Man.

The director first wrote the script and found the place. The choice of Denis Lavant as this king was then obvious and that the collection of Damir Doma would match perfectly with the character and the island's landscape (Inishmaan in Ireland).

ABOUT WALTER FILMS
The company shortly became a major partner of fashion's houses, through its exclusive relation with CHANEL, and for its productions for companies such as YVES SAINT LAURENT or CELINE. Walter Films has also created a network of new fashion designers generation, MAXIME SIMOENS, GUSTAVO LINS, DAMIR DOMA, ... Besides Fashion, the company opened itself to other fields of activity, like music, with videos for bands (John and Jehn's, Tse,...)

INTRODUCING JAN-JAN VAN ESSCHE »SATTA AMASSAGANA« (2ND) COLLECTION 2011

COLLECTION#2 »SATTA AMASSAGANA« by Jan-Jan Van Essche

On June 9th
Jan-Jan Van Essche will launch his second collection »SATTA AMASSAGANA« which means ›give thanks‹ in Amharic. Jan-Jan’s second collection is a continuation of his previous work as his particular loose forms evolve naturally, resulting in unstrained masculine volumes inspired by refined patterns and pure ethnical shapes. It has a desaturated color palette that accentuates the feeling of one being in a desert landscape, still maintaining the collections freshness.Jan-Jan Van Essche (*1980) is a young menswear designer born and based in Antwerp, Belgium. He graduated in 2003 from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp and has won several prices, including the prestigeous Dries Van Noten award.

In June 2010 he launched his first collection
COLLECTION#1 »YUKKURI«, Japanese for ›taking it easy‹. A concept capturing the philosophy behind his approach to create contemporary fashion.

Unlike most designers
Jan-Jan designs and produces one collection a year. His collections can be seen as annual wardrobes to be worn through the seasons by layering up and down. All pieces are individually numbered in limited series and each garment is produced before the launch of each collection, preserving exclusivity and creating off the shelf collections.

So far
Jan-Jan Van Essche’s collection is available at the newest select shops such as ›Hunting & Collecting‹ in Brussels, RA13‹ and ›Atelier Solarshop‹ in Antwerp, ›Nen Xavier‹ in Rotterdam.
